Read Only Versus Trade Execution Access
Understand the difference between read only and trade execution access when you connect an AI agent to Funded with Flow through MCP, and how to choose the right level.
When you connect an AI agent to Funded with Flow through MCP, you choose how much it can do: read only access lets the agent see your data but never place orders, while trade execution access lets it actually buy and sell on your account. You set this on the Algorithmic Trading page.
Read only access
Read only is the safe starting point. An agent with read only access can look at your account but cannot change anything or move money. Use it when you want an AI agent to:
- View your live positions and profit and loss
- Read charts, watchlists, and market data
- Summarize your recent activity or account status
- Suggest ideas without acting on them
Because it can never place, modify, or close an order, read only is the right choice when you are testing an agent, sharing insight, or simply not ready to hand over the order ticket.
Trade execution access
Trade execution access is the higher level of trust. An agent with this access can place, modify, and close orders on the account you connect it to, the same actions you would take yourself on the Trade terminal or the Options screen. Only grant it once you understand exactly what the agent will do, because you are responsible for every strategy you run and every order it sends.
Automation on Funded with Flow includes safeguards. If an account is not tradable, for example after a rule breach, automation auto pauses so an agent cannot keep sending orders into a failed or liquidated account. That protects you, but it does not replace your own judgment about what an agent is allowed to trade.
Choosing the right level
Start with read only, confirm the agent behaves the way you expect, and only move up to trade execution access when you are confident. Keep in mind that your account rules still apply to anything an agent does: the daily loss limit, maximum drawdown, and position limits all vary by plan and are shown on the Pricing page and in your account. An agent cannot trade around those rules, and breaching them can fail or liquidate the account just as it would with manual trading.
You can review and manage your automation access on the Algorithmic Trading page at any time. If you have a question about your specific account, email [email protected].
